How it all started...
In 1898, the Clear Lake Evangelical Church was established, and Sunday school and worship services were held in the Clear Lake schoolhouse, now the Centennial School, until the first church was built in 1900-1901 for $200.00. The church was a one-room structure on the present site. Edna Hollingsworth Bair donated the land. The name changed from Clear Lake Evangelical Church to Clear Lake Evangelical United Brethren church in 1946, when it united with the Evangelical United Brethren denomination.
By 1966, a new church was needed. The present sanctuary was constructed in such a way that we now have a single complete edifice. In 1968, the Evangelical United Brethren united with the Methodists, and the denomination became the United Methodist Church.
In 1998, the church celebrated its 100th anniversary. The word "Keizer" was added to the name, making it Keizer Clear Lake United Methodist Church to help identify it as part of the greater city of Keizer.

Expanding the vision...
We believe that God calls us to see beyond our walls and imagine new possibilities for faith and community. As we expand our vision, we seek to deepen our spiritual roots, strengthen our connections with one another, and extend Christ’s love into the world around us. Together, we are building a future guided by hope, inclusion, and purpose—where everyone has a place and every act of kindness helps God’s light shine brighter.
Where we are headed...
At Keizer Clear Lake United Methodist Church, we’re stepping boldly into the future with hearts open to God’s leading. We believe that faith is a journey of growth, love, and service — not just within our walls, but throughout our community. Our vision is to be a place where everyone can belong, where God’s grace transforms lives, and where hope is shared with the world around us.
As we look ahead, we’re committed to building deeper connections, nurturing spiritual growth for all ages, and being a force for compassion and justice in Keizer and beyond. We invite you to come alongside us as we follow Christ’s call to love God, love our neighbors, and make a difference — one act of kindness at a time.
Realizing we can do far more together than we can as an individual congregation, Clear Lake (along with the other United Methodist Churches in the Salem/Keizer area) have formed a unique alliance known as Open Door Churches. Our Open Door Churches share pastoral resources, sponsor volunteer work days together, host Vacation Bible Schools, worship together on special occasions, sponsor joint youth and young adult groups, hold discipleship classes open to all, and much more.
